I am well and truly in my cowboy era, and I make no apologies for that!

This book starts with Brody who has just called off his wedding to his high school sweetheart. No one can figure out why he has done this. He has just lost his father, and this was supposed to be the next happy thing.

Brody is a complete Golden retriever, always easy with a laugh and a smile and a happy go lucky sort of attitude. He is also very perceptive and has worked out that his ex-fiancée is actually in love with his best friend so has removed himself from the situation (No fuss, no drama just a called off wedding).

He is at the local bar that he handily has an apartment over and meets a stunning woman who he takes home. The next day he is at his best friend’s ranch when the new ranch hand shows up……..

Calvin is the smoke show from the bar and has spent most of her life running to get away from bad memories and her dad and his gross mate who seems to think Calvin is his possession! Calvin is a total Black Cat she doesn’t need anyone least of all a man! And she can’t quite believe the soap opera she has inadvertently walked into.

Brody doesn’t push Calvin; he just meets her where she is and offers her a quiet place to land and slowly starts to break down the walls Calvin has erected around her heart. He’s helped buy the cutest little kitten who just shows up via the Cat distribution network. She definitely steals the show here.

Calvin starts to think that maybe she should stay in town. She isn’t constantly feeling like she should run until things go a little bit pear shaped and she almost bolts for the hills but once again Brody gives her a safe space to just be.

I want more of these characters I actually want to see the ex-fiancée and the best friend sort themselves out and get together! Although I’m not a huge fan of the ex the best friend is suitably grumpy and stubborn to have my interest.
