This book was FANTASTIC! So, I’m one of those girlies who watched Formula 1: Drive to survive on Netflix and then filled my insta feed with interviews with Max Verstappen who I swear is my spirit animal! Yes, if you say DU DU DU DU I will reply MAX VERSTAPPEN! So, when the opportunity to read a book based on F1 came up I jumped all over it.
This is the first book in a new Away we go series there are going to be 6 books and im hanging out for all of them!
And boy did this book deliver! Evangeline Bennett has AuDHD and is an entrepreneur with an amazing business that sells fidgets and helps others with ADHD and Autism. She has just broken up with her F1 driver boyfriend (he is part of what the media have dubbed the Elite Eight) and is trying to get her life back together and still make it to the races with her friends. She is part of the Even Better Eleven and is friends with most of the drivers on the grid. She is putting her couch into storage that her ex has organised and when she turns up, she realises that it’s not the storage facility she thought but her ex-boyfriends dad’s house!
Alaric Steele is giving me serious Toto Wolff vibes. he is the team principle for Granata racing and is in the job after the last team principle was caught being a total douche bag to younger staff. He is also Luca’s dad and is confused as to why there is someone in his driveway with a couch. He sees something in Evangeline and offers her a job with Granata which will mean she will be able to travel with her friends for the upcoming season like she had planned anyway.
Alaric is perfection! He just gets Evangeline and meets her where she is. He clams the swirling thoughts in her head and she reminds him there is more to life than just a racetrack.
This is a great book it has a really solid story with my favorite tropes older man, ex boyfriend’s dad, bit of a boss/employee thing.
