YES, YES YES not only is one of my ride or die faves back with a new book. She is an absolute goddess of easter eggs and tricky little mentions of her whole author world.
This is the third book in the series; no you don’t have to have read the first two. This one is a goodie and a very much needed break from the overstock of Cowboy romances I have been devouring lately!
Cleopatra (Cleo, Clee) what an epic name! A struggling artist and the last of the Blackthorn’s to get her inheritance she shows up to the old house to meet the lawyer and settle everything, and her grandfather’s old bodyguard is also there Holden Verity who was the fun police when she visited her grandfather by always foiling her attempts to escape. Turns out he has one more mission to protect Cleo while she sorts out what her grandfather has left her.
This is set in the art world Cleo is left something that others want to get their hands on, and poor Holden has his work cut out for him. Cleo learns more about Holdens personal life and his gorgeous daughter Kit who is a very intelligent little girl. She gets a glimpse of what being a family would be like. She starts to develop feelings for her gruff older bodyguard but doesn’t think he will ever see her as more than the annoying little girl he used to have to “babysit”
Holden is a single dad and has aging parents who need a little more help. His ex left him holding the baby and then crawled back when she got sick and had nowhere else to go. This last job means he can set his little family up for life and finally take a step back and rest his body and work on what’s next for him. He doesn’t expect to be blown away by the woman he is supposed to protect with her Violet-blue eyes and thick chestnut hair white a mesmerising white stripe!
They have to find somewhere safe to lay low after some Russians get all up in their business, so they end up at Holdens house. Holden has to have multiple cold showers and remember this is a job he needs to protect Cleo not develop feelings for her. HA HA HA best laid plans and all that. It doesn’t take long for one of my favourite scenes in any book the “fuck it” and it’s on like Donkey Kong!
This book is a fantastic read it holds your attention and I absolutely adore the little mentions of other parts of the Nicole Snow world. Everything Nicole writes is worth a read.
