Yup I am well and truly in my Fall era (even though its spring in NZ)
This book is such an easy read. You don’t have to have read Sweet on You to enjoy this one but if you have time and maybe a perfect place to curl up and read then add these to your TBR.
This book does touch on drug use and is about two reformed party people. But it’s not graphic.
Tyler is a single dad to his gorgeous daughter Ellie he has taken over running the mechanic shop in Painter Creek from his dad. But things are tight and he has to live above the shop and struggles with trying to do the best for his daughter, while being saddled with the bill from his ex’s failed stint in rehab. He wants to take out a loan but even though he has surprisingly good credit he doesn’t have enough collateral.
Becca (Rebecca) who you meet in Sweet on You. Has just inherited a farm she calls Becca’s Peckers she is trying to get the guest cottage cleaned up and puts on events leading up to Halloween to get people interested in visiting the farm. She used to party with Tyler and her best friend CJ (Tylers ex) until Ellie came along and CJ got out of dodge. She has terrible credit but lots of collateral in the farm and is trying to convince the bank to give her a loan so she can make improvements around the farm.
Oh yes, my dear readers you are smart you can see where this is going……..So Ellie’s kindergarten pays a visit to Becca’s Peckers and Ellie twists her ankle, so Tyler has to come and pick her up and has to interact with Becca. He blames Becca for CJ leaving but of course doesn’t know the whole story. It comes out that they both need loans but are missing key pieces for the loan process. So, they come up with a way they can help each other a fake marriage!! But can anything really be fake when they have both had feelings for each other it’s just that life has gotten in the way, and you can’t trust an addict.
Ellie is the cutest little kid, and she adores Becca and her wolf (a husky named T-Bone). She is happy to be staying on Becca’s farm and Becca is the perfect addition to their little family. The last couple of chapters are so sweet!! There is no third act break up which is always a good thing!
