Game Over – Paige Charles

If you are wanting a book that is heavy on the happy endings, then this book is for you. It’s the perfect antidote to some of the more heavier books out there and would be perfect to read in the bath with a bottle (whoops I totally mean glass) of wine.

I think this book is one of the few I would give 3 stars to. I wanted to like it the blurb sounded exciting and I wanted there to be a bit of angst between the characters. I described it to the group chat as so sweet it would hurt your teeth.

Spencer is an IT specialist and after going no contact with his family is looking for his own, he is a total romantic and believes in soul mates. The more you get to know Spencer the more you realise that going no contact is the best thing he could have done for himself and I do love a MMC who isn’t afraid to show his emotions. But the run in with his parents felt like it was just thrown in at the last minute for a blip in the story.

Allie is a plus sized girl who has just got out of a relationship with a man who made her feel less than constantly. He forgot her birthday and was a general douche bag. But you never hear from him again I was waiting for her and Spencer to run into him and make him feel awful, but it never eventuated. Allie also has a dad who is an absent father and tormented Allie. But again, this was all resolved with one phone call and a nice little bow.

Ok there was no third act breakup and there was mention of Halloween which always makes me happy, but this book could have had more angst and a bit more drama it was spicy, but it wouldn’t be lost as a cozy.
