This book is nice! It’s an easy read and it’s not a horrible story. It is of course about cowboys! You should know by now that this is my weakness! If I see an ARC sign up for a cowboy story, I’m signing my life away! And this book has alllllll the hot cowboy food groups!
Gabe (Gabriel swooon) had come back to town to work at his best friend’s ranch after his divorce is finally settled. He has a daughter and that’s pretty much the only reason he got married in the first place. His ex-wife has moved on, and they co-parent their daughter well there is no animosity. He goes to the local bar on his first night in town and a gorgeous woman catches his eye then he looks closer………It’s his best friend’s daughter all grown up.
Jasmine has just turned 21 and is at the bar celebrating her birthday when she runs into her dad’s best friend. He asks if her daddy knows where she is but there is only one man, she wants to be calling daddy, and he is standing in front of her! Jasmine is a barrel racer and is hoping to go pro, but her younger brother has just lost his high school sweetheart and is not coping too well so her dad needs to stay home to keep an eye on him so that means Gabe needs to travel with her to the rodeos. Of course, they both have feels and try so hard to stay professional and keep their distance, but when you are shoved in a trailer of course it’s going to be easier said than done!
Jasmine also has type 1 diabetes and has an insulin pump to keep her from crashing out. This has been explained really well in the story and even though I am a complete wuss when it comes to needles and blood, but I found this really interesting. It’s been well explained and not over complicated but it’s part of the story and makes the story more layered.
There is no third act break up in this book (Thank the book gods) but there is drama. What do you expect with a dad’s best friend trope, but this is such an easy read it’s not angsty it’s actually funny when Jasmine’s gran gets involved! I don’t want to give too much away. If you’re looking for a cowboy easy beach read that you can enjoy by the pool with cocktails, then add this one to your TBR!!
