This one was a bit out of left field for me (oh you will get my stupid joke in a minute). I love Daisy Wren and how her characters are so relatable and are like real people instead of muscled men and perfect women!
Centre of Attention is the first book in the new series of Utah Knights Rugby. Now this is where I have a confession to make even though I am born and raised in New Zealand I don’t know the first thing about Rugby. So, I have no idea if this was even an accurate representation of the game. I knida feel like I should be some sort of expert but hey I’m a car girl and sports ball is not my thing!
But I digress. This book was CUTE and the story was really good. So, Sutton Brady has just started her new job as the Athletic trainer at the Utah Knights her dream job. It’s a fresh start she has broken up with her ex who scheduled everything down to sex! and as soon as her neighbour stops putting on a show, she will be ready to face the new day and her new team.
Ezra Gentry plays for the Utah Knights (sorry no idea which position…sports) it’s been his dream to play professional rugby and his hard work is finally paying off but he is a bit lonely its hard living away from his family and he is struggling with fitting in, He rooms with his best friend Kendall (Ken Doll) who has no shortage of women gracing his bedroom. He hears about the gorgeous new Athletic trainer and goes to check her out on her first day. Then he realises just who she is!
His brother’s ex- fiancée!! So, Sutton and his brother Davis were engaged when they were younger, but Sutton got a scholarship in Utah to enable her to chase her dreams and Davis was going to medical school in New York. So long distance wasn’t going to work. Ezra had a massive crush on Sutton when she was dating his brother, and they start spending time together when they find out they are neighbours. It takes a while for Sutton to realise Ezra is not that neighbour, but it makes for a hilarious story line.
Ezra and Sutton are under the impression there is a no fraternisation policy on the team and staff, so they try their best to keep things on the DL. The yucky ex shows up and causes some trouble and then Ezra’s family come to one of his games and Davis makes a dick of himself. But everything works out in the end. Ezra’s family are a bunch of dicks to him about the fact he wants to be a sportsman while his brother is a stable doctor. Sutton is there for Ezra exactly like she used to be cheering him on and making him feel good about himself. This is what I love most about Daisy’s books the men aren’t perfect! they are normal and have issues and aren’t just there to help the FMC find herself!
