Ok this is going to be a HUGE call, but this is my most favorite book by Amy McGavin yet! What a stunning book! I loved it and devoured it.
Briony is a florist and has been putting up with the construction work to the 2 apartments above her shop and her flat, there are skip bins outside her shop, the stairs to her apartment are covered in dust and there are builders making awful noises while she is trying to run her business. Briony is very prim and proper she doesn’t swear and instead says shitake mushrooms (which is the cutest, but then I swear like a sailor so it’s a nice change!). She has been grinning and bearing it though the construction mess but a housewarming that’s still going at 2am is the last straw. She storms upstairs to give the new tenant a piece of her mind clad in her pyjamas and with her dog for backup.
Ryan “Axe King” Sloan is an MMA fighter. He gets off on the complete wrong foot with Briony and just keeps making it worse when he is trying to fix things. He is a tattooed fighter and doesn’t do commitments. He’s training for a fight and has a one-track mind when it comes to training. He wants to be the world champion and has had this dream since he was 14. He keeps getting the wrong impression of Briony like she is some little princess who has had everything easy.
That can’t be further from the truth Briony has practically stopped living life since her brother had an accident 4 years ago. But she can’t stop thinking about the gangster looking fighter that has moved in upstairs. Oh, these two have some hilarious run ins.
Ryan needs to get over himself and realise that maybe committing to someone isn’t the disaster he thinks it will be. He asks Briony out on a date, and they finally put down their weapons long enough to realise they do actulally work together.
There is no third act break up which is AWESOME and ohhh the saucy scenes in this are top shelf the stiff florist has a naughty side, and it just needs a fighter to bring it out. The championship fight had me gasping and crossing my fingers………..Read this book to find out what happens it’s so worth it! This is going to be an amazing series I can feel it!
