Plunged – Claire Wilder

Plunged – Claire Wilder

I had high hopes for this book the cover is sooooo pretty and I liked the idea of a lady plumber who takes no shit. I did sort of get that, but I thought the story was missing something and I still can’t work out what that something was.

This is like a Beauty & the Beast retelling Winona is a plumber and gets called as a favour to one of her friends to go to a reclusive billionaire’s mansion to fix the sink. She is told that there will be no one there till after 12 and of course that’s wrong! She comes face to face with said reclusive billionaire who is hiding in town to write a novel. She does what every woman would do cornered by a beast of a man and throws her wrench at him.

Mitchell is stuck in his novel and is lacking inspiration until he ducks a wrench and the words start flowing. But now he needs a way to get his muse back, so he takes to his kitchen pipes with a sledgehammer but doesn’t seem to make a mess. I’m pretty sure if I smashed up my kitchen pipe there would be water everywhere and it would be kinda inconvenient. But I guess when you have more money than sense it doesn’t matter.

The spice in this book is probably its saving grace holeeeee heck there is stalking, chasing, naked plumbing the works. unfortunately, all the spice in the world won’t make this book make sense. It feels like Claire got to 70% and went oh crap I have to tie everything up in a nice little package in 30% and so left parts and didn’t really explain others.
