So, this year I thought I’d do a monthly round up of what I’ve been reading. Because I read a ridiculous amount, I forget that I’ve read books that aren’t ARCs and sometimes when I’m too busy there are good books that slip through the cracks.
So, what have I been up to this month?
I have been getting stalked on Facebook by the Black Dagger Brotherhood – This is a 23-book series written by JR Ward. It started with her absolute cute reactions to seeing the actors in costume who would be bringing her characters to life in the Passionflix series. None of these books are on Kindle Unlimited and I seriously doubt that I have the patience to read all 23 books in the series, so I brought just one Dark Lover. It was a good read the sub stories that weave through the book are a stroke of genius and the characters are well written. But now that I have seen what the fuss is about, I can carry on with my life.
As I do every year, I revisit some of my favorite books from the past Mr Fixer Upper and By a Thread both by Lucy Score were definite re-reads this month. Mr Fixer Upper I have done a whole post on. But By a Thread is one of my favourite Grumpy boss stories. Both these books I own but they are on KU every so often (at the moment they are)
I also read 3 of the Men Series by Elle Nicoll Meeting Mr Anderson, Discovering Mr X and Captured by Mr Wild. These are loosely connected Holly & Rachel both work together as flight attendants (Meeting Mr Anderson & Discovering Mr X) and Jay and Tanner are bothers (Meeting Mr Anderson & Captured by Mr Wild) These books all have a dash of suspense and captured by Mr Wild left me hanging on the edge of my seat with the drama.
I started the month on a cowboy theme with Trouble and Leather & Lace but was looking for some Grumpy Boss action by the end of it. How to Survive your Boss by Leslie North was the perfect antidote Gwen & Harrison spend a week together in Aspen then end up boss and employee when he goes viral for snapping about a beloved pop princess, he needs a PR firm to save him. Gwen is stuck working for a PR firm that’s more like a frat house than a professional firm when she runs into Harrison, she tells him the crap plan they have to save him, and he convinces her to come work for him instead. The banter in this book is top shelf!
I’ve also reread Reluctantly Yours by Erin Hawkins Chloe is Barrett’s mum’s assistant he is the CEO of their parent company, and he blackmails Chloe into pretending to be his fake girlfriend so he can seal a deal to by a telecommunications company to expand his empire. Chloe stuck between a rock and a hard place has no choice but to go along with it. The things these two do to convince the other couple they are legit are kinda hilarious!
