Full disclaimer I know absolutely nothing about sport and would usually stay far far away from anything sports related, but this is the next book in the Bluestone lakes series, and it’s written by Jenn McMahon so of course I’m diving straight in.
Poppy is Griffin’s sister (his book is Finding home which is also excellent). and is a teacher at the local school. She is very worried about her reputation as a good teacher. She is an amazing teacher, and all her kids love her, so she really has nothing to worry about she has also been diagnosed with OCD and has to stick to certain routines or things go very wrong in her head.
Dallas was a pro baseballer, but an injury forced him to become the head coach of the team he used to play for (I can feel myself checking out writing this). He has the sweetest daughter Sage and a lot of dad guilt for being away playing sports so much while she was growing up. His ex-wife and him have an amicable relationship and she has to move for her job so Dallas decides to move closer to her so she can still see Sage and chooses Bluestone lakes to set up in.
I don’t want to give away all the amazing little meet cute set ups in this book there are a few. Poppy has no idea Dallas is a someone and he loves it because she is being real with him. Dallas accepts Poppy just the way she is and can see the real her with all her little OCD mannerisms where other boys (cause come on real men aren’t dicks about these sorts of things) have made Poppy feel stupid or like she is too much to handle.
Dallas just quietly walks beside her and meets her needs. Dallas as I said before has a lot of dad guilt and he wants to make the best decisions for him and Sage and keep everyone happy. He is impulsive and usually jumps before thinking things through, Bluestone lake’s gives him back his peace and teaches him to slow down a little.
