The Spite Date – Pippa Grant

I’ve been reading some HEAVY smut lately and this has been the perfect break from that. I would love to spend some time in Pippa’s head cause it must be a vibrant wacky place! This book is hilarious and the situations her characters get into are always amazing.

This book starts off with a trip to jail for our heroine Beatrice (Bea) when she is called to cater a party in her burger bus and ends up getting arrested for trespassing at British tv star Simon Luckwood’s house. Bea is fresh out of a relationship where she was dumped after Jake Camille stole her dreams for a restaurant. His whole family are a bunch of dicks and have been spreading rumours and generally being assholes to her.

Simon is in town because his twin’s mother is putting her mum in a care home and is moving to Athena’s rest to be closer to her. Simon is between shooting on his latest series and has agreed to spend the summer there so Lana can get her mum settled.

Simon doesn’t know his twins are behind the party booking and goes to apologise the Bea. Simon is Jake’s favourite star so Bea comes up with a way that she can get the apology she deserves and rub it in Jake’s face she asks Simon to take to on a date to Jake’s restaurant opening. The date is a comedy of errors and Simon gets very sharey when he is on the bubbles, he is also lactose intolerant which disastrous outcomes!

Bea had to leave her college dream to come back to town and raise her bothers when their parents died and it’s still the hot gossip around town about how poor Bea had to give up her dreams. Simon was raised by asshole parents and thinks he is unlovable so tries to hide everything behind a smile.

This is a total beach read and is laugh out loud funny!
