Delicate Hope – Jessica Myel

This book lived up to its name its delicate and hopeful.

Mae has been putting her life on hold to care for her mum who has MS, she thinks there is something wrong with her because no one ever choses her they just want to date her to either get with her prettier friends (Pretty in looks, horrible humans!) or want more than she is willing to give.

Her Aunt calls her to come help with her Florist shop in the small town of Paxton so Mae goes to help but her aunt actually has other plans and is off to Florida and wants Mae to run the florist shop for a year then she can do whatever she wants with it. Mae thinks this might be the break she needs and decides that it’s the perfect time to work on her and not be hung up on men. She meets June & Grace who take her out to the local bar.

Cooper is at the local bar for once he is a busy single dad who doesn’t really date much. His last girlfriend wanted him to choose between her and his daughter and that was an easy decision. His daughter Naomi is a gorgeous 7-year-old (she isn’t his bio daughter she was left with Cooper at 2 years old when her mum coopers sister took off). Cooper wants only the best for his daughter and the next woman he dates is going to be wife material……Then he looks at the bar to the smoke show with his sister.

Mae is so damaged she thinks that no guys could possibly be interested in her in fact she has never been kissed and is a 31-year-old virgin. Cooper has his work cut out for him trying to get Mae to give him the time of day. Her insecurities take over more often than not, but Cooper is in it for the long-haul and makes her a priority.

This book has the usual third act breakup but I couldn’t work out if it was over in a night or if it was longer. Mae went to bed crying and then the next chapter was the grand gesture, and she was smelly and had been in bed (for who knows how long). They got serious super mega fast almost too fast but hey it’s a work of fiction so anything can happen.
