Pine Bluff Series – Maggie Maren

We are heading into the best season of the whole year………Halloween! If you tell me your books are witchy and smutty I will add it to my TBR and you better deliver! I have read some shocking ‘has practical magic/Gilmore girls fall vibes’ books that just do not deliver, and it annoys me to no end.

The Pine Bluff series by Maggie Maren delivers and then some. Let’s add witchy FMCs that know their way around and crystal shop (in fact the open one) and then add the cherry on top LUMBERSNACKS sign me up for this goodness. Get this series on your TBR stat

Ok up first we have Stormbound Kaylee and Harley. Kaylee walks in on her boyf mid thrust in the toilets at her favourite coffee shop. To make it worse he is balls deep in her favourite barista. She gets in her car and just drives. She ends up almost taking out a moose and crashes into a tree. Harley lumbersnack forest ranger comes across the accident and is so used to finding dead people that he is shocked to come across a very alive Kaylee. They end up snowed in at his cabin in the woods.

Then Feverburn Rosie and Carson. This one will give you hayfever! So, Rosie is Kaylee’s favourite barista who was being railed by her boyfriend in the coffee shop she used to work in. After being convinced by Kaylee to move to Pine Bluff and open a woman scorned coffee/crystal shop the last thing she needs is to fall in love with Harley’s reclusive brother Carson. Carson owns the hardware store that Rosie rents to loft in and Rosie is the only person he actually talks to and lets in. They try to hide their feelings for each other because it’s such a messy web and they don’t want the drama. But secrets never stay secret for long.

Lastly there is Hellbent Masie and Dane. Masie is Kaylee’s best friend. Dane is Harley’s best friend and has a rep as a bit of a player who only sleeps with tourists. His story is actually heartbreaking he lost his whole family and is alone in the world trying to honour his father’s legacy running his dads auto shop. Masie and Dane end up on an impromptu road trip when Masie gets in a sticky situation. They finally admit they have feelings for each other, but it takes a loooooong ass time for them both to get over themselves. This book also induces hayfever especially the last quarter.

All 3 of these books deal with some super heavy situations abandonment, death of partners, attempted rape, and more. Please respect your mental health and read the content warnings if you are going to read these books. BUT I can assure you these are so totally worth it and remember the is always a HEA.

I adored these books and their interconnectedness. Vivianne is a bad ass granny in all 3 books who is my spirit animal she owns a book shop, is all knowing, kinda witchy and smokes weed. I aspire to be her when I’m rocking the rest home. The way Maggie writes is next level amazing. I thought Dane was an absolute douche in book 2 and he redeems himself in book 3. Yes, each book has a third act breakup but it actually a needed part of the story and instead of being the usual oh were at 85% time for a breakup it just serves to make the stories richer.
