Fixing to be Mine – Lyra Parish

Yasssss the latest Valentine, Texas romance has finally arrived! And boy does it not disappoint!

OMG it’s a real place I got curious and just googled it! Yes, my NZ is showing! From now on its going to be a real place that’s exactly like these books with smoking hot cowboys who love their mama’s and know how to treat a woman!

Ok enough “Curious Georging” time to get down to it. After finding her soon to be husband otherwise engaged just before her wedding is about to start Sunny does what any boss babe would do in this situation and steals the douche’s car and hot foots it out of town after hitting the bank and withdrawing 50k. She has heard her friend mention Valentine would be the perfect place to runaway to so decides that’s where she is heading.

Colt Valentine is renovating an old (some say haunted) farmhouse in his hometown. He is a smoking hot cowboy who has been raised right and has a hot southern accent (this accent is completely all in my head, please don’t come at me…. listen to the kiwi accent 🤢and you’ll understand what we are working with). And he has big dreams for his house he just needs to find the dream woman to share it with.

Sunny arrives in town as the Rodeo is about to start. She turns up to one of Colt’s rentals just as he has rented it to his sister and her new husband. So can’t find accommodation for either love or money, she tries the inn and the B&B, but both are full. At the B&B Remi suggests going to Colt’s house since he is just kicking around in a big Farmhouse. desperate she gives it a go.

Colt and Sunny click straightaway, and it feels like Sunny has always just been part of Colt’s life. Their chemistry is electric. I love how Colt is just like yup this it and steadfastly believes that. He doesn’t try to push her or force her into anything and slowly Sunny opens up and you start to get more of her story. Colt gives her space and time and most importantly just accepts her as she is. When you find out more you understand how much it means to Sunny to have someone who just lets her be.

Once again Lyra Parish has knocked it out the park. I’m hoping this weekend will be rainy so I can curl up and revisit my old friends from Valentine, Texas. I’m so glad there are more stories to come in this series there are 10 Valentines in total, so we are only halfway! I’m also living for the easter eggs and cameos from other characters in other books by Lyra.
