Whiskey Business – Elliot Fletcher

This book is super super slow burn but hang in there when it ignites it’s so worth it!

I adored this book mainly because for the first time in a long time the MMC was the inexperienced one and had the self-esteem issues not the FMC and it was SO REFRESHING!! and hot holy melt my kindle this book is hot.

April is an actress who’s a bit down on her luck, so she moves to Isle of Skye in Scotland where her grandfather who has recently passed has a manor and a distillery. You assume she has been left the whole shebang by her grandfather…….You know what they say about assuming.

Malcolm (Mal) has been working at the distillery for his whole life. He is a super grumpy recluse who has some major self-esteem issues thanks to his strait as dad who thinks he isn’t good enough because he isn’t a doctor like he is/was. Mal was born with a cleft palate and had major surgery to correct it which resulted in him having to learn how to speak again. He is very in his head about what peoples think about him and it give him anxiety.

Malcolm thinks the worst about April and despite her making him lose control in the best possible way he thinks he doesn’t stand a chance and can’t come up with the perfect things to say to her so comes across as a total asshole and grump.

She sees the best in him and when they get together it’s nothing short of magic. I have a feeling this book is going to be on my re-read list for years to come. I adored that there was no third act breakup and April and Malcolm actually talked about things and their future and how they wanted it to go. Secrets where laid bare and their I Love You’s actually felt like it could be real life!
